Sam Firstenberg started his extraordinary career in the early 70s, when the film and television industry in Israel was still very young. Starting as an assistant for the maverick producer Menahem Golan and "Lemon Popsicle" director Boaz Davidson he participated in different departments of filmmaking before he went producing and directing his first feature film ONE MORE CHANCE, starring Kirstie Alley and John LaMotta. This small movie was picked up by The Cannon Group and he quickly became an in-house director for this legendary production company. This career-spanning and conclusional conversations are covering all the stations of a successful Hollywood career, but also the projects that not have been realized, personal backgrounds and the switch from Cannon to Nu Image until the downfall of the commercial independent film industry and Sam's retirement. Including hundreds of unpublished pictures from private archives, behind-the-scenes images from every single movie, artworks, ephemera and the voices of the most important actors and key creatives Firstenberg worked with throughout the years: Among them Michael Dudikoff, Michael "Shrimp" Chambers, Lucinda Dickey, Michael J. Duthie, Frank De Martini, Marcus Manton, Elliot Heimoff, Mark Helfrich, Steve Lambert, BJ Davis, Tadashi Yamashita and many more. An intimate journey which summarizes three decades of filmmaking.

 

 

Including a foreword by german film critic Oliver Nöding, numerous pictures from private archives, and more than 200 stills and artworks, illustrating the unique and highly personal cinematic style of director Isaac Florentine.
